3 a.m. how we loathe thee...

It's 3 a.m. and we can't sleep. I have heard histamine levels are higher at night and I believe it. I got some ice in a bag for Katie & we pray it helps. She has been sleeping with me the past few nights. I don't think Dad minds so much as he probably sleeps better on the couch than he would if he had to deal with night wakings due to itchfests & other discomforts that Katie wants her mom for.

Here is an article on the deep, intense itching that accompanies topical steroid withdrawal.

We are trying to think of it as healing, but we are so tired. Now I know why she wants to sleep so much during the day, and my heart is full of sympathy.

Yesterday evening, after I got off work, I stopped at Walgreens for some first aid supplies. I bought witch hazel, tubular mesh gauze, domeboro packets, petroleum jelly (off brand as it's unscented), zinc oxide paste and some probiotics to see if they help. I have also added vitamin D to her daily regimen.

While at Walgreens, I bought her a get well card which we all signed and some presents to help her feel better.

I will update this post with pictures tomorrow as it seems I can't add them via my phone.

Ok never mind, I found an app that helps me.

The get well card

Chocolate may not be the best thing for her skin but it is always good for the soul!

Oh and Katie says the cracks are beginning to heal!

This was a few days ago...

This was last night.

We have only been applying aquaphor liberally & wrapping with gauze.

Well, good night all, or should it be good morning? Heading back to bed as my princess is finally sleeping again!
