Sunday afternoon when I came home from work, Katie was again wearing one of her recital costumes & dancing. I can usually tell how she is feeling by her activity level. If she's dancing or otherwise being active, and is pleasant to be around, I know she's feeling pretty good.
Here's a picture I took when I got home from work last Sunday:

Monday I took all 3 kids to the mall in Metairie (near New Orleans) since we had to visit the Apple Store for my older daughter's iPod touch, which hasn't held a charge for long since the moment she got it. We had a nice day in town there.
I wrote this on Facebook:
We went to a great art store, which Elizabeth was thrilled about, and then had a wonderful lunch together, followed by a trip to a really nice mall where we visited Claire's, Justice, Brookstone, Disney Store and a great toy store, and then we had beignets at the not-very-authentic Cafe du Monde there. We then had a trip to Whole Foods, went to the movies in Slidell (since I didn't want to be driving in unfamiliar territory after dark) and saw Maleficent, which was excellent, and then a final trip to Target. It was a long but fun day with my kids.
Here are some pictures from our fun day together:

The next morning, we found out Elizabeth's ipod touch still wasn't working, and I wrote this Facebook post about the device.
I am so frustrated right now. Last September, I purchased two refurbished ipod touch 4th generations for Elizabeth & Katie and gave them these devices as Christmas presents. Katie's has never had a problem, but Elizabeth's has not held a charge since the day she got it.
Back in January I chatted about this with applecare online and was told all these things to do and none of them worked. They also gave me all these battery saving tips which are fine but we have two other 4th gen ipod touches in this house and have never had to do anything like that with either of them. They said I would have to send it in for repair or bring it to the apple store (which is over an hour away). I didn't want to send it in and thought we'd be going back to Metairie in March (when our guinea pig was due for a checkup) so thought we'd just take it in then. Unfortunately, our guinea pig died & we didn't make it. Then we got so busy that I was just now able to take it in yesterday.
We backed it up before we left & they completely restored it. Unfortunately, we weren't really able to tell until this morning that the problem is still there. I just chatted with someone else who tells me to restore it. Well, can't they check their records on this serial number and see that it was just restored yesterday? I even told her I took it to the genius bar yesterday. We haven't even put any of her stuff back on yet because I wanted to be sure it was working first. They said it was a few apps running out of memory space. Well those apps aren't even on it now since it's back to factory settings and it still isn't working right. They say the battery is fine but it is back to factory settings & still not working.
I am going to have to take it back again Friday. This is just super frustrating!
The reason we didn't go back earlier than Friday (besides the long car trip) was that we spent the day with my mother-in-law (Grandma) and Grandma Mary (her good friend who lives with her & is like another mother to me. We watched Grace Unplugged together (awesome movie, highly recommended!) and ate supper over there. Katie's skin was okay that day. It was a rainy day as you can tell by this picture:

Unfortunately, I came home from work Wednesday to a tired and cranky girl. :-(

I wrote this message on a private support group:
Poor Katie seems to be flaring, itchy & miserable today. (Some of the redness on her arms is fuzz from her shirt.) I was at work for 12 hours today but I can tell it wasn't a good day for her. She won't try the bath tonight either. I am thankful our new lemongrass balm from Stephanie Galindez came today though as we were just about out. No smiles today!

I slathered her with Stephanie's Lemongrass Balm and it seemed to soothe her somewhat.
The next evening when I came home from work, I wrote this:
Not doing so hot today either, although I put lemongrass balm on her when I got home & she's definitely feeling better than she was when I walked in the door. She's pretty cranky right now too. We are trying to understand she is tired & feels miserable but it is a challenge.

Today she has been mostly pleasant, albeit itchy. We had to go back to the mall in Metairie & she handled it all very well. It was raining most of the day, so I was glad that my husband Matt was able to go with us and handle the driving. We bought Katie a couple of new dresses at Macy's, and finally got a replacement for Elizabeth's iPod touch. The newer one appears to be working well so far. :::knock on wood::: We also bought a Bluetooth speaker for Matt for Father's Day and a set of Star Wars playing cards that actually was 75% off and we didn't even know it. We had an early lunch at the food court and when we saw the crowds later, we were glad we had eaten earlier.

I put lemongrass balm on Katie & she put on her usual bedtime socks and is now headed to bed. She definitely seems to be in better spirits today. :)

Here is Katie's daily arsenal. She usually takes Zyrtec 10 mg twice a day (per allergy doctor instructions) and Atarax 50 mg 2 to 3 times a day as needed for itching. A few weeks ago, we added a Vitamin D supplement, and last week, we added a zinc supplement, as it's supposed to be good for the skin. This coming week, we are going to add a daily probiotic. These are all things that I have read are beneficial, but we didn't want to add them all at once.

That's all from us now. Please keep up the prayers. We love you all and thank you for caring & for supporting & encouraging us through this difficult journey.
